Raised on a steady diet of fiction in her hometown of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Yiing Zhi spent her early years marveling at the effects stories had on her. Inspired by this magic, she wrote her first story at the age of eight, thus birthing her dream of becoming an author. Despite her fondness for many different genres, she’ll never turn down romance. Studying psychology further piqued her curiosity in human behavior and motivation, and she particularly enjoys exploring the themes of identity, relationships, and choices through her characters.

While writing stories by night, she has been a copywriter, translator, and editor by day. She has published a short story online with a Malaysian publishing house, and she is an alum of Adrienne Young’s Writing With the Soul workshop. When she’s not reading or writing, she loves daydreaming about being a ballerina in an alternate universe, overspending on books, and thinking about what to eat for her next meal. Today, she still resides in Kuala Lumpur, but obsessively checks the weather app for places far, far away as a manifestation technique.
